Our Story
Omnibus Press arrived in 1972 as an independent publisher dedicated to music literature. Our name means "for all" as we publish stories about all kinds of music.
We remain part of Wise Music Group, a family-run independent music publisher. We publish a wide range of formats ranging from beautifully illustrated coffee table books to biographies and autobiographies of legendary musicians, as well as explorations into the changing music business.
We are proud to have won the prestigious Penderyn Music Book Prize in 2022 and 2020, making Omnibus the first publisher to win the award twice.
Early Omnibus titles include Pete Frame’s outstanding Rock Family Trees and Dezo Hoffman’s With The Beatles.
Over the decades, we’ve published many classic biographies, including Johnny Rogan’s Morrisey & Marr, Zoë Howe’s biography of Stevie Nicks and Tony Fletcher’s definitive biography of Keith Moon Dear Boy.
We have also published autobiographies by Ian Hunter, Jordan, Sylvain Sylvain, the Holland brothers, and many others
Events
We work with amazing musicians who have enabled us to publish books we’re incredibly proud of, and they’ve given us memorable events!
There was Jordan’s gig at the 100 Club, Duke Fakir at the British Library, and a live performance from Jimmy Webb at Omnibus HQ.
Louder Than Words
Omnibus is the main sponsor of the wonderful Louder Than Words literary festival, held in Manchester each November. It is undoubtedly one of the highlights of the year. Jill Adam, John Robb, and their team host a weekend that celebrates the amazing diversity in music book publishing.
Right, that’s enough from us. We have exciting new books lined up, which need to be edited, designed, and sent to press for your enjoyment.
