Everyone at Omnibus is in a state of total shock after learning that one of our finest authors, Darryl W Bullock, unexpectedly passed away just before Christmas. "I don’t think it’s any exaggeration to say that everyone loved working with Darryl," says Publishing Director, David Barraclough.
"Not only was Darryl a gifted writer, but he had a great eye for a story. When he pitched The Velvet Mafia it was as compelling as a novel. He thoroughly deserved the Penderyn Prize for it and it came as no surprise when film rights were also optioned.
I didn't meet Darryl as often as some of our authors, but I can remember each occasion as it was always such a pleasure. Darryl was putting the finishing touches to his forthcoming biography of Joe Meek just before he passed away and was incredibly proud of this book.
I can only add that Darryl will be greatly missed, not only by all of us who worked with him but also his many loyal readers, his family and friends, and the listeners to his radio show."
Love and Fury: The Extraordinary Life, Death and Legacy of Joe Meek by Darryl W. Bullock will be published posthumously in March.
